Sure ABout It
"That's my favourite song" Ana said, turning off the radio "If 'Save me' doesn't
get to #1 I won't listen to this radio ever again!"
"It will only get to the top if we vote" Daniela
reminded her "So pick up that phone and dial the number"
Ana did so. Once again she hung up whith a
sigh. "Engaged" she said.
Daniela laid on the bed and stared at the
ceiling. "Do you think we're ever gonna meet Hanson?" she asked.
"I hope so. Other wise, why bother?"
Daniela sat down immediately. "Why bother?
What are you talking about? Are you a real Hanson fan or is it the same to meet The Moffatts?"
"Whoa! Hold it right there, tiger! All I'm
saying is that I hope my effort's worth something", Ana exolained.
"You're right. I'm sorry" Daniela apologised.
Somebody knocked on the bedroom door.
"Girls, it's almost two o' clock. Didn't you
say you'd go to the cinema?" Ana's mother asked.
"Yes, mom." Ana rolled her eyes "We're about
to leave. OK?"
"OK!" the girls heard the woman's footsteps
fading away.
"She's like the Secret Service" Ana complained.
Daniela laughed and stood up.
"We better go" she said picking up her bag
pack"Before your mother decides to throw the dogs at us"
Ana shook her head and picked up her blue
bag.
They walked to the train station talking about
Hanson and their favourite songs. They were very exited because they had just bought their last single, "Wake up".
They arrived at the train station at the same
time as the train, so they didn't have to wait. Ten minutes later they were at the Coast Treain station. This station was
like a miniature mall, there were stores, fast food restaurants and movie theatres.
"What do you wanna see?" Ana asked looking
at the billboard "'Lord of the rings' or 'Harry Potter'?"
"'Lord of the rings'" Daniela answered "I
love Elijah Wood".
Ana went forward to the box office and returned
to her friend a few minutes later.
"Here's your ticket" she said "The movie starts
at four o' clock, so we have plenty of time. What do you want to do?"
But Daniela wasn't listening. She was staring
at something distant. Ana followed her eyes and saw three young boys standing outside Musicworld. They were all about the
same height; one of them was wearing a leather jacket and a green baseball cap; another was wearing a black shirt and a red
baseball cap;and the last one, bigger than the others, was wearing a black leather jacket and a blue baseball cap. They all
had dark sunglasses on.
"I thought you were monogamist" Ana joked.
"Uh?" Daniela had just noticed her.
"Those three guys. Do you like them all?"
"You don't understand. Don't they look suspicious?"
Ana glanced at them. "So?"
"So they look suspicious. Think about it:
three guys, same height, one fat, two thin, wearing dark sunglasses and baseball caps. Does it ring a bell?"
Ana rolled her eyes and shook her head. "You
can't actually believe that those are Isaac, Taylor and Zac Hanson!"
"There's only one way to find out" Daniela
said.
"What! You must be out of your mind if you
think I'm gonna let you go over there!" Ana argued.
Daniela grabbed her friend's arm and dragged
her halfway to Musicworld.
"Stop it!" Ana ordered "This is stupid! What
makes you think they're Hanson?"
"What makes you think they're not" Daniela
answered back. Ana folded her arms. "Look, Ana, I know I've done this before. And I know that you get embarrased everytime
I do it. But this time we'll just look from a distance. OK?"
"No talking?"
"No talking" Daniela assured her.
But when they turned back to Musicworld the
three guys were gone.
"Thank God" Ana muttered.
"I heard that!"
Since they had nothing better to do, they
decided to enter the Musicworld. There was a great This Time Around promotion poster that Daniela wanted. But she didn't want
to ask for it, so she sent Ana.
"Excuse me, do you have another Hanson poster?"
Ana asked an employee.
"Let me check" the boy went to the warehouse
and reappeared with a poster in his hands. "Here you are".
"Thanks" Ana returned to her friend with the
poster. "Look! Isn't it great?"
"Yeah, thanks" Daniela agreed, taking it.
"Thanks? What do you mean? This is mine!"
Ana said.
"But you got it for me!" Daniela exclaimed.
"No way! If you wanted it why didn't you ask
for it?"
"I told you to get it for me"
"No, you said 'Why don't you ask that guy
if they have another one?'" Ana reminded her.
"Yes, another one for me!"
They started talking at the same time, fighting
over the poster.
"It should be mine. You've got a lot of Hanson
posters" Daniela said.
"I don't have this one!"
They hadn't realized they were shouting until
an employee interrupted them.
"Hey girls. I think I know how to settle this"
he said.
The girls followed him to the counter, where
he gave each of them a sheet of paper. "I want you to write down which promotion posters you've already got. OK?"
Ana started writing, but Daniela didn't do
anything.
"What's wrong?" the employee asked her.
"I don't have any promotion posters" she answered
"I'm too shy to ask so I send Ana, but she always keeps them"
Ana looked up at her.
"You should have learned your lesson"
"Don't fight again. I see you've got them
all" the employee said looking atr Ana's list. He went back to the warehouse and returned with a handfull of posters "Here
you are. Every promotion poster we have. Enjoy them".
"Thanks!" Daniela was speechless.
The employee smiled at her. "I think you'll
have more surprises" he whispered.
Daniela didn't tell Ana what the boy had said.
She'd probably say he was hitting on her or something like that. Ana could be very anoying sometimes.
"Why don't we get something to eat?" Ana suggested.
"I'd rather go to 'Jenny'. There's a book
I want to buy" Daniela said.
"Fine. Let's go to 'Jenny'"
Once in the bookstore, the girls split up.
Daniela went to the 'fiction' section and Ana went to see the calendars.
When Daniela turned around, lloking for Ana,
she saw the three suspicious boys again. They were right outside the bookstore, looking directly at her. She stared back at
them and they smiled.
"Ana, where are you?" she muttered nervously
"Ana!"
"What?" Ana appeared behind her.
"Look!"
Ana saw the three boys and stood open mouthed
as they walked towards them.
"Hi" the one with the red cap said. "We're...
new here. We were wondering if you could show us around"
"We'd be happy to" Daniela answered "But there's
not much to see here. It's like an outside mall"
The boys laughed.
"Well, you could tell us what to buy. We're
not familiarized with this prices", the one with the green cap said.
"OK then. I'm Daniela and this is Ana. Can
you tellk us your names?".
The boys looked at each other, eyes wide open.
The boy with the red cap spoke. "I'm J.T. This is..." he looked at the biggest one "Wally!"
"And I'm Chuck" the last one added.
Daniela thought that the way they had hesitated
was extremely suspicious. Like they were lying but they hadn't thought about the names until she asked them.
"So... what are we going to do?" Wally asked.
"Well, we came here to watch a movie" Daniela
told them.
"Which one?" J.T. asked.
"'Lord of the rings'" Daniela answered "It's
very long"
"Yeah, we've seen it" Chuck said.
"Then we'll miss it" Ana suddenly said "We've
already seen it twice".
"And then why did you want to see it again?"
Wally asked confused.
"'Cause I love Elijah Wood" Daniela admited
ambarrased.
While Ana was returning the tickets, Daniela
kept the boys company. She was determined to blow their cover.
"So... what are you doing here? Where are
you from?" she asked, wishing they made a mistake.
"We're from Los Angeles. We're visiting our
uncle. But he had to work today and he recomended this place" J.T. answered.
"All settled" Ana said when she got back "Hey,
now that I remember. Why are you wearing sunglasses? The sky's really clouded today"
"Master stroke" Daniela muttered.
The boys hesitated. They grouped together,
discussing something. The girls tried to listen but they were muttering and their voices were hardly audible.
"Alright, you win" J.T. said once they turned
to the girls "Who do you think we are?"
"Hanson!" they shouted at the same time.
"Shhh! Don't shout like that!" Wally said"
You're right. I'm Zac, that's Taylor and that's Isaac."
The boys removed their caps and sunglasses
to let the girls see their faces.
"Unbelievable" Ana said "You were right, Daniela.
It's them!"
The boys put the caps and sunglasses back
on.
"What we told you is true: we are here to
visit our uncle" Taylor assured them "But, please don't tell anyone. We're supposed to be undercover"
The girls promised they wouldn't say anything.
And they all decided to walk around a little. The boys were surprised when they found out that Ana and Daniela were Hanson
fans.
"I don't think we've ever met fans like you
before" Zac told them "They usually scream and cry and make us sign a million things. Not that I'm complaining"
The girls blushed.
"Oh, Ana, look!" Daniela said, pointing at
a giftshop "There are those sunglasses that you wanted".
"Seems like the devaluation has reached them.
They cost much more than they did the last time I came here" Ana complained.
"They're so cool! You should buy them" Zac
advised her.
"They're too expensive now. Maybe when devaluation
is over"
Zac shook his head and grabbed her arm. He
dragged her into the store and bought the sunglasses for her.
"I can't let you do that!" Ana objected.
"It's nothing!" Zac gave her the sunglasses
"Put them on. Let's see how they look on you"
Ana put the sunglasses on and smiled.
"Thank you" she said giving him a big hug
" You've no idea how much this means to me".
Isaac, Taylor and Daniela had gone ahead because
the boys wanted to buy some souvenirs. Daniela was trying on some rings when Taylor noticed she had had her eyes on one specially.
It was silver and it had a beautiful engraving.
"You really like that one, don't you?" he
asked her.
Daniela nodded. Then she pointed at the price.
"It's not very expensive. But if my mother
found out I spent that much money on a ring, she'd probably kill me!"
"Then you won't spend a cent" Taylor said.
He took the ring and placed it in her finger "Fits perfectly. I'll take it". The salesgirl checked the ring's price and Taylor
paid her.
"No way! Here, the ring is yours" Daniela
took the ring off and gave it to him.
Taylor took it and replaced it in her hand.
"Now it's yours. It's the least I can do. You buy my records!" he said.
Daniela smiled and gave him
a hug. She had no words to thank him. For many people it wouldn't mean anything. But it wasn't just the ring. It was
everything. Her dream had come true.
"It's getting late" Isaac said once they were
all together again "We promised uncle Mark we'd be back before seven".
Daniela looked at her watch. It was half past
six.
"Wow. Time really runs when you're having
fun" Ana said.
"I wish we had more time" Taylor sighed "But
since we don't, why don't you give us your e-mail adresses to keep in touch?".
"Who's got a sheet of paper?"
Ana asked.
"I do!" Daniela still had the paper from Musicworld.
Zac gave her a pen and everyone wrote down their e-mail adresses.
"We all have to promise we will write back"
Taylor said.
Everyone agreed.
The boys walked the girls
to the train station and kept them company until the train arrived. And while the train was going away they screamed: "Ana!
Daniela".
"Ana! Daniela! Wake up girls!" Ana's mom was
screaming "What happened? I thought you were going to the movies. Were you too tired?".
"What time is it?" Ana asked.
"Half past six" the mother answered.
The girls looked at each other confused.
"Was it a dream?" Daniela asked "Did you have
a dream?".
"Yeah, with Hanson. Did you?"
Ana said.
They told eachother their dream and they realized
it was the same.
"But if it was a dream, how
could it be the same?" Daniela asked "Unless...".
"Oh, no! Now you're gonna tell me it wasn't
a dream" Ana complained.
"There's only one way to find out" Daniela
said.
"Well, I don't have any sunglasses on, do
I? And I don't see your ring".
Daniela knew that it was
impossible but she was sure that it had happened. Yeah, she was defenitely sure about it.
After a long discussion they decided it had
just been a dream and Daniela went back home.
It was cold outside so Daniela put her hands
in her pockets. She felt a piece of paper in her right pocket. She pulled it out. It was folded in four. When she opened it,
she held back a scream. She turned around and ran back to Ana's house. When her mother opened the door, she didn't wait for
an invitation. She ran straight to Ana's room.
"I've got it!" Daniela screamed, holding up
the piece of paper "Here are their e-mail adresses".
"But there's nothing written on this" Ana
told her, looking at the paper. "See?" she showed her "There's nothing".
"Impossible! Ana, I'm telling you they were
written right here. I'm sure!" Daniela insisted.
"Calm down! To tell you the truth, something
like that happened to me a few minutes ago" Ana confesed "I was looking in the mirror and suddenly I had the sunglasses on.
But a second later they were gone".
Daniela went home unsatisfied. She was sure
that it had happened. She know she had met Hanson. She just couldn't prove it.
That night after dinner, Daniela was sitting
on her bed, staring at the piece of paper.
"I'm sure. I'm sure" she repited.
Suddenly, her eyes moved from the paper to
her ring finger. There it was, the silver ring with the engraving. A second later it was gone, but she didn't care. She had
seen it, just the same as she had met Hanson. They were gone now. But she had met them. She was sure about it.
